I am your typical Asian girl who likes to hang out with friends, enjoy KFC and travelling, here I am giving a banana to a gorgeous baby elephant in Koh Samui, Thailand.
I aim to go travelling at least once a year and I am grateful that I have a full time job that allows me to be able to go. Whilst I enjoy meeting new people and socialising, home is where my heart is and I am always happy to have a quiet night home with my partner Andrew and do eating parties whilst watching movies and playing video games.
I am currently a PA working for a state wide Government Agency in Sydney Australia. I am lucky to say that I really do enjoy my job but that wasn’t the caseone1 year ago when I was hating my previous job. I won’t go into the specifics but it was through hating that job that started to force me to re-think my career and what I was good at, which completely changed my mindset about climbing the proverbial corporate ladder.
All the bureaucracy and politics really put me off and it really got me thinking about pursuing pet projects to keep my mind stimulated, because I sure was not interested in a lot of the things the company was doing.
How I Got Into Writing
Writing is something that I came across only last year-I always thought of myself as an ideas person, but I never thought of myself as a creative person. I had written stories ever since I was young, often writing short stories and poems in my spare time but I always wrote it off as just a hobby. But one thing I definitely loved doing was reading! I’m not going to lie: I loved reading romance novels. I’ve read other genres and enjoy them thoroughly but nothing captures my imagination more than reading a well written love story. I guess it was only a matter of time before I put my own ideas onto paper, or a computer.
Anyway, long story short I currently am working on my debut novel which I intend to turn into a trilogy. Details of the book will be in my Books tab. As a complete newbie, and only knowing a fellow wanna-be writer, I can’t say I have a lot of connections or people to learn from. So I will aim to learn as much as I can along the way, and share that with you.
What Kind of Books I Write
Whilst I classify myself as a romance author, I do not want to be know for churning out the ‘roll your eyes’ clichéd stuff a lot of people associate romance novels with. Love and relationships can be complex and I want to explore that in my writing. In terms of characters, I also want to write powerful female characters, and will usually feature a female protagonist. I love that more and more strong female protagonists are appearing in fiction these days and I want to honor that myself.
